We make speakers because we love music. Since 1984, we've been designing and developing speakers that bring you closer to the music. We live and breathe great sound experiences and here's a look back at our 2016.

 

But speakers are many things.

 

In fact, we may not even mean the same thing when we talk about loudspeakers.

 

For us, a speaker is like a good book or a good movie.

 

It is impossible to let it go.

 

A good speaker will engage you in the music and make you want to listen more.

 

And "more"... is certainly a word that fits our 2016 well.

 

In 2016, we added many new chapters to our history.

 

It's happening again in 2017!

Our wireless speakers now turn on automatically (and sound even better)

 

Just start the music - and the speaker will turn itself on. That's the clever thing about Autosense, the technology we've been building into the award-winning SA saxo 1 active and the SA saxo 5 active.

 

At the same time, we upgraded the amplifier to a more powerful version with even better sound.

 

 

World-class speaker elements for top speakers

 

New speaker elements for the pandion family were finalized in 2016, and you can have high expectations. This is the wildest thing your ears have ever heard, and it's great engineering.

 

The sound is 8-10 times cleaner than you normally hear from a speaker.

 

The music goes 2 octaves deeper and the high dynamic range of the speakers opens up the presence of the music by a factor of 3. Record-breaking doesn't come cheap, which is why the hand-built Pandion elements belong in the luxury category.

 

 

SA saxo 5 active: Best wireless speaker of the year

 

Two speakers and a cell phone. That's all you need to have a complete wireless music system.

SA saxo 5 active is the best wireless speaker of the year and in 2016 it came out with a 6-star test and in the US they said"The SA saxo 5 active produced a surprisingly refined and elegant sound".

 

Our wireless speakers have twice scored the grade "sehr gut" in Germany in Germany, which has placed them in the "Oberklasse".

 

We are very happy about that.

 

 

SA saxo 70 was Specially Recommended

 

It does something with music, it's entertaining SA saxo 70. Now it's even Specially Recommended by the critics.

 

This test from Germany puts it in the Spitzenklasse!

 

 

500 guests made the record fair come of age

 

The 3rd record fair at Højttalerfabrikken offered lectures, concerts, a café and of course 10,000s of vinyl records, and our blog was full of nice pictures of happy people.

 

 

SA pandion 30: Top speaker of the year

 

It was a great moment when SA pandion 30 - the speaker with the special story - was named Speaker of the Year in the ambitious category: top class.

 

In the US, they are surprised by the beautiful Dane with the incredible sound.

 

 

Concert saves on power. Not the experience

 

In connection with the SPIL DANSK day, we held a very successful concert at the speaker warehouse with the electro-pop artists Rest in Beats.

 

In addition to the great music and sound, we also had a nerdy mission about power consumption.

We presented a musical charmer

 

There's nothing more liberating than a small speaker with big sound.

 

We have pushed the boundaries several times and we are proud to have done it again in 2016 with SA saxo 5.

 

 

Our most ambitious speaker ever

 

SA pandion 50 is our most ambitious speaker ever.

 

All music becomes new again when delivered through this musical magician.

 

The magical music mediator has just received its first review in Germany.

 

 

A classic turned 10 years old

 

In a world where gadgets come and go, this speaker celebrated its 10th anniversary.

 

It has been upgraded 3 times in its lifetime, but the design has always remained the same.

It takes up no more than an A4 sheet of paper and you can put it on a shelf or hang it on a wall (with just one screw).

 

The sound is always surprising and it honestly deserves its name: SA talent.

 

 

Speaker developed with design icon

 

Kähler Fugato is a portable wireless speaker developed in collaboration between design icon Kähler and System Audio.

 

The unconventional collaboration was awarded the 2016 ICONIC AWARD for innovation and the design won the coveted Reddot Design Award.

 

A really exciting, fun and educational project.

 

 

The best compact speaker we've made

 

SA pandion 5 offers a boundary-breaking experience of all types of music.

 

It was created by SA's development team in open collaboration with a panel of music lovers.

Prepare yourself for an overwhelming and immense music experience.

 

 

138 new test pilots

 

The test pilots are a team of people we listen to a lot.

 

They will be involved in exciting speaker trials, design questions, technology considerations and so on.

 

In 2016, we welcomed 138 new test pilots and have used their invaluable input throughout the year.

Final high gloss walnut

 

We have been working for some time to create a perfect finish in real high-gloss walnut.

 

In 2016, we succeeded in developing a method that brings out the beauty of real wood and meticulous craftsmanship.

 

The exclusive finish can now be seen in the pandion family.

 

 

Cooperation with primary school

 

Why do I need to be literate, numerate and cooperative?

The question is often answered for children with abstract images of a hazy future, so in 2016 we tried for the first time to work in a very practical way with the local primary school.

 

We have given the children tasks where the skills learned at school are put to use in the real world, and this will probably not be the last time we see a school class at the factory.

 

 

Inventing its own category

 

The SA pandion 20 is the speaker like no other.

 

The sound is musical and precise, like the best compact speakers, but it's also big and uncolored, as you'd expect from large floorstanding speakers.

 

It's no secret that we have high expectations for SA pandion 20.

 

 

Print a speaker stand yourself

 

Angling a compact speaker slightly towards the listener is incredibly beneficial for the sound.

A small, simple speaker stand can do as much good for the sound as a more expensive speaker.

We are currently working on several solutions, and one of them will be this 3D printed foot, which you will be able to download for free from the System Audio website.

Efficient mechanical decoupling

 

The Pandion family is the first to present a new decoupling system, where the speaker rests on a solid block of wood and aluminum that is decoupled from the substrate by a rubber membrane.

The efficient mechanical decoupling gives the sound clarity and precision.

 

The new Pandion speakers are also the first to use our own ultimate speaker terminal.

In 2016 we held 4 small concerts and there will definitely be more from that side.

The 4th record fair was the most versatile

 

The record fair at the Loudspeaker Factory has found its format and no other record fair is quite like it.

 

You'll shop from 10,000s of vinyl records, of course, but you can also attend lectures, listen to live music, hang out in the café, learn about turntables, and lots more.

 

The 4th record fair was the most diverse yet and you should almost enjoy these mood pictures.

 

 

144 awards in one place (30 years in the spotlight)

 

In 2016, we marked the anniversary of the first test of a System Audio loudspeaker (in 1986).

We have therefore gathered 144 awards, product tests and reviews in one place.
