Everyone knows the problem of booming bass from active subwoofers. The sound becomes imprecise and it's hard to separate different sounds from each other. Important elements of the sound disappear and even different instruments sound the same. Not so with an SA SubElectro 175, because it makes a special effort for speed and precision.

The two active subwoofers in the SubElectro series are exceptionally versatile. They specialize in accurate reproduction of deep tones. That's why they can be used in a home theater, where they will add energy and drama to the movie experience. Unusually for active subwoofers, they can also be used in a music system, where they provide deeper and more accurate bass than a regular speaker can offer, even if it is much larger.

The round plate under the cabinet is more than an elegant design element. The plate can be rotated and
transform the subwoofer from bass reflex to pressure chamber. This simple and original solution,
enables you to adjust the SubElectro to work in rooms with difficult acoustics.

Technical information

The extreme built-in amplifier houses a powerful power supply capable of delivering very large effects. The bass speaker magnet is at least twice the size of the magnet in a standard active subwoofer. The cabinet is made of 25mm veneered MDF for optimal stability. On the front and bottom, the cabinet is further reinforced to 35mm and 50mm thick respectively. This combination of great stability, plenty of amplifier power and great control over the woofer's diaphragm movement gives an incredible energy and precision that is easy to integrate into the sound of your other speakers.

Living rooms of less than 20 sq. are acoustically difficult, for an ordinary active subwoofer. The bass usually becomes too boomy. By converting the SubElectro 175 to work according to the pressure chamber principle, you have a far greater chance of enjoying dry, accurate and deep bass reproduction in a small living room.

We recommend experimenting with the placement and setting of your subwoofer. Nothing (almost) beats the sound of a subwoofer that truly "integrates" with the sound of your other speakers - adding body, size and weight to the reproduction. The SubElectro 175 is capable of doing this job.

Potent amplifier

The built-in amplifier in the SubElectro 175 can output up to 380 watts! Notice the large power supply in the picture on the right. The toroidal transformer is 10 cm high - and has a diameter of 10 cm! It is a very powerful amplifier that can deliver a clean and accurate reproduction. The amplifier part itself weighs 8 kilos ...
